BROOKVILLE – A Virginia man is facing DUI charges after allegedly causing a crash and fleeing the scene on Interstate 80.
On July 21st police say 29 year-old Gabriel Hawkins of Mechanicsville Virginia allegedly caused an accident on the eastbound lane of I-80 at the Hazen exit.
The vehicle then fled the scene before police pulled it over around the 101 mile marker. Police believed the operator was impaired and performed a sobriety test, which Hawkins allegedly failed.
A legal blood draw allegedly showed a blood alcohol content of .219, nearly three times the legal limit.
Charges are now pending.
