Retired Trooper Charged in Fatal Accident

PIKE TOWNSHIP – A retired Pennsylvania State Trooper has been jailed for his involvement in a fatal crash in Pike Township Thursday.

At around 10:13pm July 23rd police were dispatched to a multi-vehicle accident on State Route 879 in Pike Township.

After investigating police learned that 55 year-old Thomas Reed was allegedly under the influence when he traveled across the center line crashing into a minivan and motorcycle, killing the minivan’s occupant Judith Jordan and the motorcycle driver Frederick Cline. Another individual was flown to the hospital for serious injuries.

Reed has now been sent to the Clearfield County Jail where he faces felony homicide by vehicle while DUI, third degree murder, aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, involuntary manslaughter, homicide by vehicle, and aggravated assault by vehicle.
