On Monday night’s supervisors meeting three land development plans had been approved. The Treasure Lake Ski Lodge was finally approved after the previous plan was rejected after lacking the required parking amount.
The other two, according to Chairman Mark Sullivan, are franchise coffee shops.
“We have two coffee shops coming in,“ explained Sullivan. “7 Brew and Starbucks, I believe those will both be completed in 2025.”
7 Brews, will be located at the current Long John Silvers’ location, which will be demolished to make room for the new two lane drive through coffee shop.
The Starbucks will be off of Midway Drive behind Rite Aid in a current vacant lot.
Other important notes from the Township meeting are below:
The Platt Road sewer project is on track to reach 90% connection rate by the October 1 deadline. Most mobile homes and other buildings are already hooked up. People with extenuating circumstances can apply, in writing, for an extension up to the end of the year. This year’s CDBG, Community Development Block Grant, funds Sandy Township is receiving this year is planned to be awarded to repay the Section 108 loan. This loan was taken to pay for the Platt Road project. This will leave $500 to $560 thousand left on the loan. The Kiwanis Trail Phase 2 project continues with lines being installed.
The 2023 Township audit is finished. According to Township/City Manager Shawn Arbaugh it came back clean. The audit can be viewed either by coming to Sandy Township in person to view a hard copy or requesting a digital copy by email. Sandy Township’s minimum municipal obligation to the Township Police Department’s pension is $220 thousand this year.
