Jefferson County Cuts Expenses

BROOKVILLE – The Jefferson County Salary Board has made a few moves to save on expenses.

At its most recent meeting, the board decided to eliminate a full-time deputy sheriff position. The decision reduces the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office to a total of four full-time deputies, one non-uniformed employee, and Sheriff Sam Bartley. A published report says county officials are citing a reduction of responsibilities within the sheriff’s department as a basis for the cutback.

Meanwhile, the board also made a change in the status of the claims coordinator position in the county’s Veterans Service Office. The position was converted from full-time to part-time.
