SUMMERVILLE – A former employee at Community County Services is facing criminal charges after allegedly stealing around $82,000 dollars.
This follows an investigation into 38 year-old Samantha Browne of Summerville, after police received reports of the alleged embezzlement.
Browne was employed between March of 2023 and August of 2024 where she oversaw billing, payments, payroll, and reimbursements.
Police say she allegedly gave herself a $19 dollar an hour raise and allegedly forged an almost $19,000 dollar check.
In total police say Browne allegedly stole $81,918.75 dollars.
She has now been charged with theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception, and forgery.
