CLEARFIELD COUNTY – Compromise and Cooperation were the key takeaways as economic challenges and state budget decisions hit close to home.
State Senator Wayne Langerholc Jr. said that communities like Clearfield County have been hit by recent changes including impacts connected to Penn State DuBois, Quehenna Boot Camp, and Clearfield-Lockhaven’s closures.
Now, as Harrisburg prepares to debate a proposed $53 billion dollar state budget, he says cooperation will be critical to protecting communities like those in his district.
“Cooperation and compromise is really a key to the democratic process here,” explained Senator Langerholc. “There are a lot of different interests and a lot of different senators, a lot of representatives and it’s divided government.”
With education and human services making up most of the state spending, lawmakers will need to work across party lines to reach a fair deal that supports local communities.
