WOODLAND – A Woodland woman is facing arson charges after allegedly setting fire to her home.
According to police, 71 year-old Karen Barger allegedly told a witness that she started the fire in Bradford Township on January 29th claiming that she wanted to die.
When questioned by police, Barger allegedly admitted to using a match to set a blanket on fire, which then spread to the rest of the home. After 20 minutes, she allegedly walked out of the burning building and called 911.
This allegedly matched reports by the fire marshal.
She has now been charged with arson, and risking catastrophe. She also allegedly made false claims with her insurance.
