UNDATED – Federal Prosecutors are asking for a hearing to disqualify one of former DuBois City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio’s defense attorneys, claiming a conflict of interest.
According to court documents, prosecutors are looking to dismiss Suplizio’s defense attorney William Shaw Jr, claiming that Shaw could be a witness in the trial.
They also claimed that Shaw represents former DuBois Police Chief Blane Clark, who is currently in a separate lawsuit. With Clark also being a witness for the trial, prosecutors believe Shaw may have a conflict of interest during cross examination.
Prosecutors say that this will not negatively impact the case, as Suplizio has other attorneys representing him.
Now, the government is asking to schedule a hearing to address these conflicts and determine whether or not Shaw could be disqualified.
Suplizio is accused of misappropriating approximately $1.5 million in city funds between 2008 and 2022.
