BROOKVILLE — A former Jefferson County teen is facing felony theft charges for allegedly stealing his grandmother’s urn and cremated remains from a Brookville residence.
According to police, 18-year old Austin Spera is accused of taking the urn and remains with him when he moved out of his grandfather’s home and went to West Virginia in September. A witness reported to police that Spera admitted to stealing the urn because he was angry with his grandfather.
When interviewed by police, Spera allegedly claimed he no longer possessed the urn or remains. A preliminary hearing in Brookville has been scheduled for February 2nd.
