Consolidation Not Affecting DuBois School Board Elections

DUBOIS – The DuBois school board has made a decision on how consolidation will affect their elections this spring.

Board President Robert Wachob told other members at the Thursday night meeting that he spoke with a lawyer and was given three options.

  1. Go at large with 9 members divided by precinct.
  2. Go with the current method of 3 representatives from 3 regions.
  3. Combine both options.

With advice from the lawyer, the Board decided that they will not do any redistricting for the upcoming election year.

Other matters brought up include the renovation of a DuBois High School sign.

The construction committee unanimously agreed to move the sign to the parking lot entrance, renovating the fixture, including the lighted display screen.

This will ultimately cost the board $61,725 dollars.

Members agreed that the display leads to transparency with students and the community.

When voted on, all board members agreed to the renovations except for Board President Robert Wachob.
