PUNXSUTAWNEY – A 42-year-old man is facing criminal charges for the alleged abuse of his ex-girlfriend in Jefferson County since 2022.
Punxsutawney Borough Police have filed strangulation, simple assault, and harassment charges against Eric Gilbert of Glen Campbell.
The victim is accusing Gilbert of frequently abusing her physically, emotionally, mentally, and verbally, until he moved out in December. The victim also reports that she is continuing to receive medical attention for a throat injury caused by Gilbert’s abuse.
Police say there is corroborating evidence of abuse based on prior police reports, a statement by the victim’s neighbor, and a medical provider who examined the victim.
A preliminary hearing for Gilbert has been set for February 21st.
