CLEARFIELD – It took a Clearfield County jury less than an hour Thursday to return a guilty verdict on Jeremy Sipe.
Sipe, of Croft, was on trial for allegedly causing head and facial injuries to a 16-month-old boy in 2022. The jury found 45-year-old Sipe guilty of endangering the welfare of a child, and simple assault charges.
The child’s mother testified in court Wednesday that she saw Sipe walking away from their Goshen Township house with the boy, and when they returned, her son’s face was bloodied and swollen. Sipe claimed that the boy hurt himself by falling over a child safety gate.
Dr. Jennifer Wolford of UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh testified that the child’s injuries were most consistent with trauma that would have been inflicted by a hand slap.
Sipe’s two-day trial was held at the Clearfield County Courthouse.
