CLEARFIELD – A Curwensville man wanted on state parole warrants is back in prison, but not until after he took a cold plunge into the Susquehanna River while trying to avoid arrest.
According to the Clearfield Regional Police, 33-year-old Ernest Ricketts Jr. was seen walking along South Third Street in Clearfield. Police say that Ricketts ran away as they approached, he jumped into the river, and swam to the other side. Ricketts was eventually found in a wooded area near Riverview Road, and he was arrested. Illegal drugs were allegedly found in Ricketts’ backpack.
Drug-related charges, as well as flight to avoid apprehension have been filed against Ricketts.
His bail was set at $50,000, according to court documents, and he is back in the State Correctional facility in Smithfield.
