DUBOIS — There was a party-like assembly to celebrate Wasson Elementary School’s national recognition as a Blue Ribbon School for 2023.
The DuBois Area School District’s Wasson Elementary achieved the distinction back in September based on overall academic performance, and the progress it is making in closing achievement gaps among student groups. Students and staff alike were recognized and rewarded at Friday’s celebration.
Among those attending the gathering were State Representative Mike Armanini, DuBois Schools Superintendent Wendy Benton, and School Board Director Matt Reed.
According to the U.S. Department of Education, Wasson is one of only 13 schools in Pennsylvania recognized this year as a National Blue Ribbon School.
