DUBOIS — DuBois Police say one man was shot and another man is in jail following an early Sunday morning confrontation at the Invictus multi-recreational facility.

According to a published report, the names and identities of the victim and alleged shooter have not yet been released. More details are expected to be made public today.

DuBois City Police Chief Blaine Clark confirmed that the alleged shooter is a 27-year-old Clearfield man, and the victim is a 31-year-old DuBois man. According to Clark, the suspect is in the Clearfield County Jail with charges pending. The victim reportedly underwent surgery yesterday and is expected to survive.

Chief Clark says the suspected shooter had been told to leave Invictus twice by the owner, Joe Morrison. During a struggle, the suspect reportedly pulled a gun and pointed it towards Morrison. Even though Morrison was able to grab the gun, it discharged and struck the victim in the facial area. Clark said the victim of the shooting was someone who was at Invictus with the suspect, but had tried to step into the middle of the scuffle. Reports say that Morrison was able to disarm the alleged shooter and hold him to the ground until the police arrived.

Chief Clark noted that DuBois Police were on the scene within 18 seconds of being called.

Clark also credited Morrison for acting quickly saying, “I think by the quick intervention of the owner, he definitely saved his life by engaging the guy and probably multiple other people.”
