BIG RUN – Animal cruelty and neglect charges have been filed against a Smicksburg woman for allegedly leaving a dog alone without food or water for several days.
According to Jefferson County Court documents, 49-year-old Barbara Kerr had assumed responsibility to take care of a dog at a Big Run residence. When State Police were called to the residence in November they found that a tan terrier had been caged in the kitchen with no water or food and appeared to be malnourished and abandoned. The dog required medical treatment at a veterinary hospital.
Kerr faces a preliminary hearing on January 31st.
