Chest Township, PA – A Clearfield County woman was scammed over the course of 8 years.
The 70-year-old La Jose woman says she was contacted by someone claiming to be from a government grant office in Texas.
The scam artist, who went by the name Dick Burkett, convinced her to send money in hopes of receiving a government grant.
The woman lost an unknown amount of money over 8 years.
The crime was reported on March 16.
Police do not give any details on how much money was lost. The investigation is ongoing.
