UNDATED – Pennsylvania’s state Supreme Court has ruled that counties should not count certain mail-in ballots Monday.
The ruling stated that ballots missing the correct handwritten date on the return envelopes cannot be counted.
All of this is in response to a statewide recount for Senate with Republican candidate Dave McCormick leading Democratic candidate Bob Casey by 17,000 votes.
This ruling could impact thousands of mail-in ballots, especially in areas like Montgomery, Philadelphia, and Bucks counties, where officials planned to count all ballots. Republicans say counting those ballots breaks state law, while Democrats say the date requirement is confusing and unnecessary for voters.
