ANITA – One home and a barn were damaged during the EF1 tornado near Anita over the weekend.
A full report by the Jefferson County Department of Emergency Services says the tornado originated 2 miles northeast of the village of Oliveburg and traveled around five miles before dissipating.
The National Weather Service conducted a damage report through drone footage and firsthand accounts. Several trees snapped or uprooted before being flung around 30 feet hitting the back of a barn, sending debris up to 100 feet away, significantly damaging the structure.
The report also stated that one home lost its carport and suffered light damage to its siding and roof.
There were no reports of injuries or death from the storm.
