DUBOIS – A program dedicated to feeding veterans will take place next week.
Sponsored by the Second Harvest Food Bank, the program will support military members and their families who are in need of food in Clearfield County.
With funds provided through a grant, Second Harvest is now able to provide Clearfield County with dried goods, frozen food, fresh produce, and dairy products every other month in DuBois.
One local veteran, Paul Sprague, who served for 20 years in the army reserves knows the stigma related to receiving help, and urges those that need it to sign up.
“Everybody needs help,” explained Sprague. “And there’s nothing wrong with asking. There’s nothing wrong with saying hey can you give me something a little extra to get through this. And that’s what the Second Harvest, which is out of Erie Pennsylvania, Second Harvest Food Pantry is doing with their Military Share Program.”
If you do not need the help, Second Harvest is also looking for volunteers and donations to support their initiatives.
Pre-registration is required and is open for the distribution until Friday. The program will take place at the DuBois Alliance Church parking lot at noon Wednesday September 11th.
You can learn more and register by contacting Second Harvest at 814-459-3663, extension No. 117.
