ANITA – A confirmed tornado touched down near Anita Sunday evening causing severe widespread damage.
Jefferson County Emergency officials say the tornado was reported in the Anita and Knoxdale areas with the Elk Run Volunteer Fire Company saying it was just a few miles north of their station.
The storm prompted tornado warnings across parts of the region and left behind reports of “widespread” damage.
