DUBOIS – Across the county this Memorial Day, communities are gathering to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to the nation.
This year, the DuBois Legion recognized veteran John “Jack” Garr. His daughter, Jackie Allshouse, says despite the honor, her father was the kind of man who believed every veteran deserved the same recognition.
“All these deserve the same amount of attention that I’m getting,” explained Allshouse. “That’s just the man he really was.”
Allshouse says Memorial Day is about remembering every veteran and the sacrifices made for the freedoms Americans enjoy every day.
