CLEARFIELD – A scheduled Clearfield Borough Council meeting was canceled over alleged threatening messages sent to elected officials.
Clearfield County District Attorney Ryan Sayers says the Clearfield Regional Police Department was notified of messages sent to council members.
Sayers says investigators determined no direct threat exists, describing the messages as containing harsh language rather than an actionable threat.
He added that threats against public officials are taken seriously, saying, “Such threats have no place in our civil society! With that said, if a public official is going to claim a threat has been made, then such a threat needs to have actually occurred.”
