PIAA Baseball and Softball Playoffs – Quarterfinal Round – THURSDAY:
5A Baseball – The DuBois Beavers, by virtue of their 2-1 win over District 7’s Montour on Monday, have advanced to the PIAA playoffs quarterfinal round. Coming up tomorrow, DuBois faces the District 7, 5-A champs, Upper St. Clair. Tune in for DuBois Beavers baseball on Sunny 106 at 12 Noon Thursday. 1A Baseball – Elk County Catholic defeated Serra Catholic of District 7 by a 4-3 score in the openeing round of the PIAA tournament on Monday. Tomorrow, the Crusaders face the District 6, 1-A champs, Claysburg-Kimmel, in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs. The game begins at 4:30pm at First Commonwealth Field in Homer City.
1A Softball – DuBois Central Catholic moved into the quarterfinal round of the PIAA softball playoffs by beating Juniata Valley of District 6 on Monday, 5-4, in eight innings. The Lady Cardinals will go up against Union-New Castle Thursday afternoon at 4. That game will be played at Slippery Rock University.
Pittsburgh Pirates:
The Pittsburgh Pirates are now winners of four-straight games. Last night, the Bucs beat Houston, 10-6.
The Pirates play the Astros again tonight in Houston. The first pitch is scheduled for 8:10. Don’t miss the Bucs pregame show at 7:45 on Connect FM.
Altoona Curve:
The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve rallied in New Hampshire Tuesday night and took down the Fisher Cats, 8-3. Altoona trailed, 3-2, going into the ninth inning. The Curve and New Hampshire play game two of the six-game series this evening at 6:03.
