District 9 Baseball and Softball:

MONDAY-BASEBALL

DuBois 12, Punxsutawney 1 – Noah Farrell pitched a no-hitter for DuBois while striking out a dozen Chucks batters. Farrell also smacked two hits, scored twice, and drove in a Beavers run.

DuBois Central Catholic played two and won two in a non-traditional double-header at Berwind Park in St. Marys:

GAME 1 – DuBois Central Catholic 3, Elk County Catholic 0 – 9 innings – DCC’s Carter Himes pitched more than seven no-hit innings, and he struck out 11.

GAME 2 – DuBois Central Catholic 2, St. Marys 0 – Brayden Zatsick went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, a run scored, and one RBI for the Cardinals.

DuBois Central Catholic 1, Elk County Catholic 0 – Rylee Kulbatsky tossed a two-hit shutout while striking out 17 for the Lady Cardinals.

GAME 1 – Brookville 17, Bradford 13 – Jaiden Silvis and Lily Plyler drove in three runs apiece for the Lady Raiders.

GAME 2 – Brookville 20, Bradford 3

Penn State-DuBois Baseball:

The City of DuBois and Penn State-DuBois baseball team is hosting the USCAA Small College World Series this year, and it gets started on Monday. Penn State-DuBois is seeded fifth among the 10 teams participating. The Lions are scheduled to face the number four seed, US Sports University, on Monday at 10am at Showers Field.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

The Pittsburgh Pirates are riding a three-game win streak into their game in Arizona tonight. The Bucs will face the Diamondbacks at 9:40. The Bucs-Diamondbacks pregame show tonight starts at 9:15 on Connect FM.

Altoona Curve:

The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve play their next Eastern League series in Maryland against the Chesapeake Bay Sox. Game one of the six-game set is set for tonight with the first pitch at 6:05.
