District 9 Baseball and Softball Playoffs:

MONDAY-BASEBALL

3A: Brookville 13, AC Valley/Union 9 – The Raiders battled back from an early 4-0 deficit to score 13 of the next 14 runs in the game. Trenton Colgan drove in three runs for Brookville.

3A : Karns City 8, St. Marys 3;

Brookville and Karns City will play for the District 9 3A championship on Wednesday.

MONDAY-SOFTBALL

1A: Curwensville 20, Otto-Eldred 0 – The Lady Tide scored a dozen runs in the first inning and cruised to a 20-0 shutout of Otto-Eldred in the opening round of the District 9 single-A softball playoffs. All nine Curwensville batters had at least one hit in the game. Addison Siple pitched a no-hitter while striking out seven.

1A: Elk County Catholic 5, Port Allegany 2;

Regular Season Game: Clearfield 14, DuBois 13;

WEDNESDAY-SOFTBALL

2A: Brockway vs. Keystone

Pittsburgh Pirates:

The Pittsburgh Pirates will try to bounce back from being swept at home by the Phillies last weekend. The Bucs are in St. Louis to start a three-game series against the Cardinals tonight.

Tonight’s first pitch is scheduled for 7:45. Listen for the Pirates pregame show on Connect FM at 7:20 tonight.

Altoona Curve:

The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve have won six of their last nine games. Tonight, the Curve host the Erie Sea Wolves to begin a six-game Eastern League series. The start time at PNG Field this evening is 6pm.
