District 9 Baseball and Softball:

MONDAY-BASEBALL

DuBois Central Catholic 17, Kane 7 – Dalton King was 3-for-3 at the plate for DCC. He scored twice and drove in a pair of runs. King’s teammates Aiden Keller, Evan Burton, and Kellan Hoover each hit a double for the Cardinals.

MONDAY-SOFTBALL

DuBois Central Catholic 10, Kane 0 – Rylee Kulbatsky pitched a no-hitter for the Lady Cardinals while she struck out 14. Reese Pfingstler led the DCC offense with two hits, an RBI, and she scored three times.

Brockway 10, Bradford 0 – Ella Retiz hit two doubles and knocked in five runs for the Lady Rovers.

West Shamokin 9, Punxsutawney 0

Penn State-DuBois Baseball and Softball:

The Penn State-DuBois baseball team has an overall season record of 20-and-1. Next on the Lions’ schedule is a home double-header against Penn State-Allegheny on Friday.

This afternoon, the Penn State-DuBois softball team is scheduled to play a double-header at Penn State-Beaver.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

Pittsburgh Pirates bats came alive last night, and the Bucs thumped the Washington Nationals, 16-5, at PNC Park.

The Bucs host Washington for game two of the four-game set this evening. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:40. Tune in for the Pirates pregame show at 6:15 this evening on Connect FM.

Altoona Curve:

The Pirates’ double-A affiliate, Altoona Curve, are yet to win a game this season. The 0-and-9 Curve will be facing the Portland Sea Dogs for a six-game series in Altoona. Tonight’s Altoona-Portland game begins at 6pm.

Pittsburgh Penguins:

The Pittsburgh Penguins play their regular season finale tonight in St. Louis.

The Penguins start their Stanley Cup Playoff competition Saturday. The Pens’ first round foe will be the cross-state rival Philadelphia Flyers. Listen for all Penguins playoff games on Connect FM .
