Pittsburgh Penguins:

It was an unexpected and thrilling run for the Pittsburgh Penguins into the Stanley Cup Playoffs this season. That run came to an end last night in game six of Pittsburgh’s first round series against Philadelphia. The Pens fell to the Flyers in overtime, 1-0.

This year’s appearance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs was the first time for the Penguins since 2022.

District 9 Baseball and Softball:

Rain completely messed up Wednesday’s District 9 baseball and softball schedules.

In baseball, the Punxsutawney at Brockway, Brookville at Keystone, Clearfield at Richland, and both Elk County Tournament games involving St. Marys and Elk County Catholic had to be postponed.

Facing postponement in softball were the DuBois at Bradford, Brockway at Punxsutawney, Clearfield at Richland, Keystone at Curwensville, and both Elk County Tournament games involving the ladies teams of St. Marys and Elk County Catholic.

Penn State-DuBois Baseball:

The Penn State-DuBois baseball team begins PSUAC tournament action Friday night at Showers Field in DuBois. The Lions’ first opponent will be the winner of Friday afternoon’s Penn State-Fayette and Penn State-Scranton game.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

The Pittsburgh Pirates lost again to the St. Louis Cardinals at PNC Park last night, 5-4. The Bucs have lost four in a row, and it was their third straight loss to the Cardinals.

Today, the Bucs wrap up their four-game home series with the Cards. This afternoon’s game begins at 12:35. The pregame show starts at 12:10 on Connect FM.

Altoona Curve:

The Pirates’ double-A affiliate, Altoona Curve, had their game with Richmond postponed last night. Altoona and Richmond are scheduled to square off today at 11am at PNG Field.
