Pittsburgh Penguins:
The Pittsburgh Penguins are facing an early exit from round one of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Last night, the Pens lost 5-2 to Philadelphia. Pittsburgh now trails the Flyers three games to none in the best-of-seven series.

WEDNESDAY-BASEBALL
Elk County Catholic 13, Brockway 3 – Chase Simbeck drove in four ECC runs.
Punxsutawney 16, St. Marys 4 – The Chucks scored nine runs in the sixth inning. Nevin Day had four hits and five RBI for Punxsutawney.
WEDNESDAY-SOFTBALL
Brockway 4, Elk County Catholic 2 – Bailee Carberry was the winning pitcher for the Lady Rovers. She struck out six and gave up only one earned run.
Punxsutawney 6, St. Marys 5 – Punxsy’s Brinley Hallman was 3-for-3 at the plate with a home run and a double, and three RBI.
Curwensville 15, Moshannon Valley 0 – Ava Hainsey drove in four Curwensville runs while teammate Addison Siple went 3-for-3 at the plate.
Penn State-DuBois Baseball and Softball:
The Penn State-DuBois baseball team will face Penn State-Beaver on the road for a double-header on Friday.
The Penn State-DuBois softball team lost at Penn State-Beaver Wednesday, 5-4. The Lady Lions are scheduled to host Penn State-New Kensington for a double-header on Friday.
Pittsburgh Pirates:
The Pittsburgh Pirates doubled up the Texas Rangers last night, 8-4.
The Bucs-Rangers three-game series is knotted at a game apiece. Game three is tonight at 8:05.
Altoona Curve:
The Pirates’ double-A affiliate, Altoona Curve, earned their third win of the season in Harrisburg yesterday, 6-1. This evening, the Curve-Senators game has a 6:30 start time planned in Harrisburg.
