District 9 Baseball and Softball:

THURSDAY-BASEBALL

Clearfield 8, St. Marys 1 – Bison pitchers Hayden Rumsky and Connor Peacock combined on recording a two-hitter.

Elk County Catholic 13, Clarion 1 – Landon Smith was 3-for-4 at the plate for the Crusaders. He drove in four ECC runs.

THURSDAY-SOFTBALL

Port Allegany 17, Elk County Catholic 15

The District 9 baseball and softball playoffs are scheduled to begin next week.

Small College World Series – Baseball and Softball:

The USCAA Small College Baseball World Series in DuBois will wrap up this afternoon at Showers Field. Apprentice takes on Penn State-Mont Alto for the championship at 1pm.

The USCAA Small College Softball World Series culminated at Heindl Field in DuBois Thursday afternoon as Salem University won this year’s title with a 9-3 victory over Florida National .

Pittsburgh Pirates:

The Pittsburgh Pirates notched a series win against Colorado yesterday with a 7-2 win over the Rockies.

Cross-state rival Philadelphia will be at PNC Park to battle the Bucs this weekend. Tonight’s Pirates-Phillies game begins at 6:40pm. Listen for the pre-game show on Connect FM this evening at 6:15.

Altoona Curve:

The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve split a double-header against the Harrisburg Senators Thursday. Harrisburg was a 3-1 winner in the first game, and Altoona claimed game two by a 2-0 score. The Curve-Senators series continues at PNG Field this evening with the game scheduled to begin at 6pm.

Pittsburgh Steelers:

The 2026 schedule for the Pittsburgh Steelers was released last night. The Steelers will be featured in four prime time games, but only one of them will be played at Acrisure Stadium. Pittsburgh will be a participant in the NFL Paris Game debut, taking on the Saints in France on October 25th.The first regular season game will be at home for the Steelers on September 13th against the Atlanta Falcons.
