PIAA Baseball and Softball Playoffs:
5A Baseball – The DuBois Beavers Baseball (9-1) face off against Hollidaysburg (6-1) today at 6pm at the First Commonwealth Bank Field in Homer City semifinal round of the PIAA playoffs.
1A Baseball –Elk County Catholic (9-1) plays against Eden Christian (7-1) today for the PIAA semifinals today at 3pm at the First Commonwealth Bank Field in Homer City.
Pittsburgh Pirates:
The Pittsburgh Pirates had a three game loss streak against the Atlanta Braves over the weekend.
On Friday, and Saturday, the Pirates lost to the Braves 3-6 in both games.
Sunday, Pittsburgh started strong with a 2-0 lead into the 7th inning, they then lost three runs in the 7th, ultimately losing 2-3.
The Pirates now head home to take on the LA Dodgers on Tuesday at 6:40pm. You can listen to the Bucs with the pregame show on ConnectFM at 6:15pm.
Altoona Curve:
The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve finished their bout against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats over the weekend.
The Curve lost both games Friday and Saturday, 3-8 and 8-9.
The Altoona Curve won their final game against the Fisher Cats 4-0, giving them three of the six games they played.
They are now playing a 5 game bout against the Chesapeake Baysox their first game is this Wednesday at 6pm.
