Pittsburgh Pirates:

The Pittsburgh Pirates pulled out a 4-3 win over the Milwaukee Brewers last night. The victory puts the Bucs back at the .500 mark for the season with 57 wins and 57 losses.

Prior to the game, and at Major League Baseball’s trade deadline, the Pirates made three moves to bolster their bullpen. One of the deals brings closer Luke Weaver into the Bucs’ fold from the Mets. Pittsburgh faces the Central Division-leading Brewers again tonight with the Bucs pregame show starting at 7:15, and the first pitch at 7:40. Catch all the Pirates action on Connect FM.

Altoona Curve:

The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve begin a six-game Eastern League series tonight at UPMC Park in Erie. First pitch for the Curve-Sea Wolves game this evening is scheduled for 6:05.

District 9 High School Football:

Next week, heat acclimation practices will begin for District 9 high school football teams throughout the Tri-County area. Week one of the regular season game schedule will be Friday, August 28th. Brockway will play at Keystone; Brookville travels to Union-AC Valley; Punxsutawney will host Bradford; Clearfield plays at Bellwood-Antis; Curwensville hosts Northern Bedford; and Ridgway has a game at St. Marys. On Saturday, the 29th, DuBois opens its season at Erie.

Pittsburgh Steelers:

Training Camp continues for the Pittsburgh Steelers today at St. Vincent College in Latrobe. The Steelers worked out in pads Monday in what Head Coach Mike McCarthy called a “ramp-up” day. Training Camp will cross over with the first preseason game for Pittsburgh in nine days – on Thursday, the 13th, at home against Green Bay. The Steelers first regular season game will also be at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh on Sunday, September 13th against the Atlanta Falcons.
