District 10 Little League Baseball and Softball All-Star Tournaments:
In the District 10 Little League Majors All-Star baseball tournament, DuBois nipped Bradford 1-0 in an extra innings, winners bracket matchup Thursday evening. The DuBois All-Stars earned a spot in the championship round, and their next game will be on Thursday in DuBois.
The DuBois Minors baseball All-Stars will be in action on Monday. DuBois will take on Bradford in a losers bracket game.
The DuBois Junior All-Star softball team, champs of District 10, advance to the sectional tournament in Corry. That tourney begins on Tuesday.
Pittsburgh Pirates:
The Pittsburgh Pirates upended the Philadelphia Phillies Thursday afternoon, 6-1. The win gave the Bucs a series split of two games apiece in Philly.
The Pirates will be in our nation’s capital for the 4th of July weekend. A three-game set with the Nationals begins this evening. Listen for the Bucs-Nats pregame show at 6:20 tonight. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:45pm on Connect FM.
Altoona Curve:
The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve put up a 10-3 Eastern League win over the Portland Sea Dogs last night. Altoona will play game four of its series with Portland in Maine this evening at 6:20.
