WEEDVILLE – A multi-hour standoff along the Bennetts Valley Highway near Weedville Friday came to an end with no one hurt, and a suspect in custody.
State Police and other Elk County officials say the man had caused a similar standoff situation last June when he threatened a neighbor and then barricaded himself inside his house near Route 255’s intersection with Route 555.
Police confirmed that the suspect was contained, and there is no longer an active threat to the public.
A Jay Township Supervisor said that state police on the scene told him that the suspect had only recently been released from jail.
