District 10 Little League Softball and Baseball All-Star Tournaments:

The DuBois Little League Major All-Star softball team was eliminated from the District 10 tournament on Friday. DuBois fell to St. Marys-Fox Township in the final championship game, 6-2.

The DuBois Junior All-Star softball team will begin their two-team district tournament against Brookville at 6 this evening in DuBois.

In the second round of the District 10 Little League Junior All-Star baseball tournament on Friday, DuBois upended Brookville by a score of 13-2. The DuBois Junior baseball All-Stars will take on St. Marys-Potter-McKean at 6pm today at Stern Field in DuBois. Watch all the action this evening at Tri-County – dot – TV.

In the Majors All Star baseball tournament Saturday, DuBois notched a 5-1 win over St. Marys. DuBois now will face Bradford in a winners bracket game on Thursday.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

The Pittsburgh Pirates salvaged one game of their weekend series against the Cincinnati Reds at PNC Park. The Bucs prevailed Sunday, 9-4.

Today, the Pirates start a four-game series in Philadelphia. Listen for the Bucs-Phillies pregame show this evening at 6:15pm. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:40pm on Connect FM.

Altoona Curve:

The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve are on a four-game skid. Altoona fell to Reading, 9-4, on Sunday. Next for the Curve is a six-game Eastern League series in Maine against the Portland Sea Dogs. Tuesday night’s Altoona-Portland game starts at 6.

The Frank Varischetti All-Star Football Game:

Friday night’s 11th annual Frank Varischetti All-Star Football Game in Brockway went to the South team. The South put together a 48-22 win over the North squad. The all-stars in the game were 2026 graduates representing 17 of the District 9 high school football programs. In a special pregame ceremony, two dozen scholarships supported by local businesses and organizations were awarded to select players.
