Local Scouting Growing

UNDATED – More than 700 young people are involved in Scouting across our region, with local leaders saying the program continues to make a difference in the community.

Eagle Scout and Cub Camp Director Joe Griffin says 22 local Scouts earned the rank of Eagle Scout last year, completing community projects ranging from flagpoles and benches to food drives and other improvements.

“It teaches you good morals and it helps our youth grow into responsible and very capable members of society.”

While participation dipped during the pandemic, Griffin says Scouting is rebounding, giving local kids opportunities to develop leadership skills, volunteer in their communities, and build lifelong skills.
