District 10 Little League Softball and Baseball All-Star Playoffs:
DuBois Little League All-Star Tournament action is underway. Tuesday, the DuBois major softball all-stars shut out the all-stars from Potter-McKean-Cameron County-Smethport by a 14-0 mark. DuBois advances to play Brookville at 6 this evening. Tune in for all the live action on Sunny 106. The District 10 Little League All-Star baseball tournaments begin next week.
Pittsburgh Pirates:
The Pittsburgh Pirates came from behind and grabbed a 6-5 win over the A’s last night in California.
Tonight, the Bucs play the A’s again in the series finale’. The Pirates pregame show on Connect FM starts at 9:15. The first pitch of tonight’s game is scheduled for 9:40.
Altoona Curve:
The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve got squeezed by the Akron Rubber Ducks in Ohio last night, 14-6. Game two of Altoona’s Eastern League series in Akron begins at 6:35 this evening.
The Frank Varischetti All-Star Football Game:
In a little more than a week, the 11th annual Frank Varischetti All-Star Football Game will be played in Brockway. This year’s game is set for Friday, June 26th, at Brockway’s Frank Varischetti Field, with kickoff at 7pm. Each year, the all-star contest features players from the 19 District 9 football programs who just recently graduated. This year, two dozen of those players will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship prior to the game.
