District 9 Baseball and Softball Playoffs:

3A Championship: Karns City 8, Brookville 6;
4A Championship: Clearfield 4, Punxsutawney 3 – The Bison scored all four of their runs in the fourth inning. It was Clearfield’s fourth District 9, 4A championship in the past six years.
TODAY-BASEBALL
Wednesday’s 5A subregional playoff game between DuBois and Allderdice was postponed. It is now scheduled to be played at 3pm today (Thursday) in Munhall. The game will be broadcast live on Sunny 106 and Tri-County – dot – TV.
1A: DuBois Central Catholic vs. Elk County Catholic;
2A: Curwensville vs. Moniteau;
WEDNESDAY-SOFTBALL
1A: DuBois Central Catholic 8, Elk County Catholic 1 – Lady Cardinals’ pitcher Rylee Kulbatsky struck out 14 and gave up only one run on five hits. At the plate, Lily Davidson and Lily Sachs each drove in two runs for DCC.
1A: Curwensville 3, Northern Potter 0 – Addison Siple pitched a one-hitter while striking out 16 for the Lady Tide.
2A: Brockway 11, Keystone 9 – Elysabeth Myers scored three times and drove in three runs for the Lady Rovers. Ella Reitz also drove in three runs for Brockway.
Pittsburgh Pirates:
Rookie Konnor Griffin had four hits and scored three times as the Pittsburgh Pirates shut out St. Louis last night, 7-0. The Bucs ended their four-game losing streak. They face the Cardinals again this afternoon in the series finale with the first pitch scheduled for 1:15. Listen for the Pirates pregame show on Connect FM at 12:50 this afternoon.
Altoona Curve:
The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve fell to the Erie Sea Wolves last night, 10-6. Game three of the Curve’s Eastern League series with Erie at PNG Field in Altoona is scheduled to begin at 6 this evening.
