District 9 Baseball and Softball:

MONDAY-BASEBALL

DuBois 4, State College 1 – Samson Deeb drove in two of the Beavers runs with a pair of hits. On the mound, Noah Farrell struck out 10 and walked none on his way to the win for DuBois.

Moniteau 2, DuBois Central Catholic 0;

Brookville 8, Brockway 5 – Both Parker Kalgren and Ladd Blake had two RBI for the Raiders.

Clearfield 11, Tyrone 5 – Clearfield’s O’Brian Owens and Jayde Brothers combined for six hits and five runs scored.

West Branch 2, Curwensville 1;

Elk County Catholic 15, Smethport 0.

MONDAY-SOFTBALL

DuBois Central Catholic 12, Brookville 0 – Rylee Kulbatsky tossed a no-hitter for the Lady Cardinals, striking out 13 in the process. At the plate, Kulbatsky was 2-for-2 with two walks, three runs scored, and two RBI.

Karns City 14, Punxsutawney 2;

Tyrone 3, Clearfield 0;

Curwensville 4, West Branch 3 – Addison Siple pitched a two-hitter for the Lady Tide, and she struck out a dozen.

Penn State-DuBois Baseball:

The Penn State-DuBois baseball team won its first game in this year’s USCAA Small College Baseball World Series on Monday. Penn State-DuBois, the fifth seed in the tournament, knocked off the number four seed, Alabama’s US Sports University, by a score of 6-2. Today, the Lions take on Salem University in the winner’s bracket at 4pm. The game will be played at Showers Field in DuBois.

Also this week, the USCAA Small College Softball World Series is being played at Heindl Field in DuBois.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

The Pittsburgh Pirates begin a three-game home series with the Colorado Rockies this evening. Listen for the Pirates-Rockies pregame show at 6:15 this evening. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:40pm on Connect FM.

Altoona Curve:

The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve start a six-game home series with the Harrisburg Senators tonight. Game one of the series is at 6 this evening at PNG Field.
