District 9 Baseball and Softball:

FRIDAY-BASEBALL

Richland 7, Clearfield 3;

FRIDAY-SOFTBALL

Brockway 19, Johnsononburg 4 – Elysabeth Myers drove in six Lady Rovers runs. A three-run homer was among Myers’ three hits in the game.

Clearfield 10, Richland 9;

Keystone 4, Elk County Catholic 3;

SATURDAY-SOFTBALL

DuBois 12, Altoona 1 – For DuBois, Elliette Brewer, Addison Edinger, and Abby Kalgren each drove in a pair of runs.

The Redbank Valley at Curwensville double-header was canceled.

Penn State-DuBois Baseball:

The City of DuBois and Penn State-DuBois baseball team host the USCAA Small College Baseball World Series this week. Last night there was a banquet, home run derby, and fireworks show. Today, the tournament games begin. Penn State-DuBois is seeded fifth among the 10 teams in this year’s tourney. The Lions are scheduled to face the number four seed, Alabama’s US Sports University, at Showers Field this morning at 10am.

Also this week, Heindl Field in DuBois is the host site for the USCAA Small College Softball World Series. Games will be played all this week.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

The Pittsburgh Pirates lost two of three games against the Giants in San Francisco over the weekend. On Sunday, the Bucs fell to San Fran, 7-6, in 12 innings.

The Bucs open a three-game series with Colorado at PNC Park on Tuesday. Listen for the Pirates-Rockies pregame show tomorrow night at 6:15. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:40pm on Connect FM.

Altoona Curve:

The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve notched wins over the Chesapeake Bay Sox over the weekend. The Curve won 7-1 on Saturday, and 9-3 yesterday. Altoona split the six-game series in Maryland. Next for the Curve is a six-game home series with the Harrisburg Senators. Game one of the series is Tuesday evening at 6.
