Pittsburgh Penguins:
On the brink of elimination, the Pittsburgh Penguins have won two straight games over Philadelphia to stay alive in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Central Mountain 3, DuBois 1 – After winning their first 12 games of the season, the Beavers have now dropped two in a row.
Moshannon Valley 8, Curwensville 5
TUESDAY-SOFTBALL
Brockway 6, Forest Area 4 – Meeca Smith drove in three runs while Elysabeth Myers hit a two-run triple to boost the Lady Rovers to the win.
Curwensville 14, Moshannon Valley 3 – With a hit and an RBI in the game, the Lady Tide’s Addison Siple joined the club of 100 hits and 100 RBI for her high school career.
St. Marys 17, Bradford 0 – Addison Beimel hit two home runs as well as a triple and a double for the Lady Dutch. Beimel scored four runs and drove in four runs for St. Marys.
Penn State-DuBois Baseball:
The Penn State-DuBois baseball team swept a pair of games from visiting Houghton College Tuesday, 15-6 and 3-2. The Lions finish the regular season with an overall record of 28-and-4. The PSAC playoffs begin Friday.
Pittsburgh Pirates:
The Pittsburgh Pirates have lost three straight games for the first time this season. The Bucs fell to the St. Louis Cardinals at PNC Park last night, 11-7.
Tonight, the Bucs go up against the Cards again. Tonight’s game begins at 6:40.
Altoona Curve:
The Pirates’ double-A affiliate, Altoona Curve, are now winners of four of their last five games. The Curve beat Richmond Tuesday night, 10-9. Altoona and Richmond have a 6pm game scheduled at PNG Field this evening.
