BROOKVILLE – A Brookville animal rescue is continuing to fight against pet overpopulation with a new downtown home.
Stray Cat Central, now located at 100 Franklin Street in downtown Brookville, is working to expand its efforts to care for abandoned animals and reduce the number of strays in the area.
President Sierra Barber says that since being founded in 2019, Stray Cat Central has worked to reduce the number of unwanted animals through rescue and spay-and-neuter efforts.
“We needed a place to call home for the stray cats and dogs that do come through that were unable to place that night,” explained Barber. “Animals that are hurt, injured, we do take them in.”
The group does continue to be foster-based, meaning animals are placed in volunteer homes where they’re cared for until they can be adopted.
