Pittsburgh Penguins – Playoffs:

The Pittsburgh Penguins begin their first Stanley Cup Playoffs series in four years on Saturday night. The Pens face-off with cross-state rival Philadelphia at PPG Paints Arena. Game one of the best-of-seven series has an opening puck drop scheduled for 8pm. Listen for Saturday’s Penguins pregame show on Connect FM at 7pm.

District 9 Baseball and Softball:

THURSDAY-BASEBALL

Clarion 6, Brockway 2;

Brookville 12, Bradford 4 – Ladd Blake hit a home run for the Raiders. Blake went 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and three runs batted in.

Bald Eagle Area 7, Clearfield 6

THURSDAY-SOFTBALL

Punxsutawney 13, Brookville 1 – Makenna Gula pitched a three-hitter for Punxsy and she struck out 10. Lindee Reed and Olivia Toven each had three hits for the Lady Chucks offense.

Penn State-DuBois Baseball and Softball:

Today, the Penn State-DuBois baseball team will host a double-header against Penn State-Allegheny.

The Penn State-DuBois softball team is also home today for a double-header against Kent State-Tuscarawas.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

The Pittsburgh Pirates had to settle for a series split with the Washington Nationals in their four-game series at PNC Park. The Bucs lost to the Nats, 8-7, in 10-innings Thursday afternoon.

The Tampa Bay Rays are in the ‘Burgh for a weekend series. Game one is tonight with the first pitch scheduled for 6:45. Tune in for the Pirates pregame show at 6:20 this evening on Connect FM.

Altoona Curve:

The Pirates’ double-A affiliate, Altoona Curve, dropped to an 0-and-12 season record with a 7-0 loss to the Portland Sea Dogs last night. Game four of the six-game series in Altoona is scheduled for a 6pm start tonight.
