District 9 Baseball and Softball:

THURSDAY-BASEBALL

Brookville 9, Cranberry 5 – Ladd Blake connected on three hits and drove in four runs for the Raiders.

Juniata Valley 14, Curwensville 3

THURSDAY-SOFTBALL

DuBois Central Catholic 12, Glendale 1 – DCC’s Rylee Kulbatsky struck out 19, and gave up only four hits. Lily Davidson, Lily Sachs, and Reese Pfingstler each hit a home run for the Lady Cardinals.

Cranberry 11, Brookville 7

Tyrone 7, Clearfield 3

Curwensville 6, Juniata Valley 5 – Addison Siple hit a two-run, game-winning homer in the seventh inning for the Lady Tide.

Penn State-DuBois Baseball and Softball:

Today, the 17-and-1 Penn State-DuBois baseball team is scheduled to host Penn State-Shenango for a double-header.

The Penn State-DuBois softball team, with an 11-and-7 overall record, will be on the road today to play a double-header at Penn State-Mont Alto.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

The Pittsburgh Pirates are 7-and-5 through their first dozen games of the season. The Bucs will square off with the Cubs in Chicago today.

This afternoon, the Pirates begin their three-game weekend series with the first pitch set for 2:20. Tune in for the Pirates pregame show at 1:55 this afternoon on Connect FM.

Altoona Curve:

The Pirates’ double-A affiliate, Altoona Curve, are now 0-and-6 after falling 3-2 at Richmond last night. The fourth game of Altoona’s six-game series in Virginia begins at 7:05 tonight.

Pittsburgh Penguins:

For the first time in four years, the Pittsburgh Penguins have clinched a spot in the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Pens defeated the New Jersey Devils last night, 5-2.

Three more regular season games remain for the Penguins, including a pair of weekend contests against Washington. Tomorrow, listen for the Pens pregame show on Connect FM at 2pm. The opening puck drop will come your way at 3pm on Saturday.
