District 9 Baseball and Softball:

MONDAY-BASEBALL

DuBois 11, Bradford 0 – Carter Genevro pitched four innings and struck out nine as he earned the win for the Beavers. At the plate, Samson Deeb drove in three DuBois runs with two hits.

Elk County Catholic 15, Brockway 5

Punxsutawney 4, St. Marys 0

MONDAY-SOFTBALL

DuBois 14, Bradford 3 – For DuBois, Addison Edinger drove in three runs; and teammates Kendall Lashinsky and Bryanna Wilmoth each had a pair of RBI.

Brockway 5, Elk County Catholic 2

Punxsutawney 13, St. Marys 4 – Makenna Gula hit a home run and drove in four runs for Punxsy.

The Curwensville at Moniteau game was postponed.

Penn State-DuBois Baseball and Softball:

The Penn State-DuBois baseball team has a 17-and-1overall record this season. Next for the Lions is a home double-header against Penn State-Shenango on Friday.

The Penn State-DuBois softball team’s season record improved to 11-and-7 after a pair of wins at Allegany College of Maryland on Monday. The Lady Lions notched 7-6 and 15-1 victories. On Friday, Penn State-DuBois will face Penn State-Mont Alto for a double-header on the road.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

The Pittsburgh Pirates lost 5-0 to the San Diego Padres last night at PNC Park. Game two of the series is tonight at 6:40. Tune in for the Pirates pregame show starting at 6:15 this evening on Connect FM.

Altoona Curve:

The Pirates’ double-A affiliate, Altoona Curve, are looking for their first win of the year. Altoona plays at Richmond tonight, opening a six-game series. The first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm.

Pittsburgh Penguins:

The Pittsburgh Penguins are down to their final four regular season games. Currently. the Pens are in strong playoff contention, holding firm to second place in the Metropolitan Division with 96 points.

The Penguins face the Devils in New Jersey Thursday night. Listen for the Pens pregame show Thursday at 6pm. The opening puck drop will come your way at 7pm on Connect FM.

Monday, it was announced that Penguins forward Rickard Rakell was named the NHL’s First Star for the week of March 30th. Rakell racked up seven goals and eight points in five game played during the week. The Penguins won four of those games.
