District 9 Baseball and Softball:
FRIDAY-BASEBALL
DuBois 6, Elk County Catholic 5 – Both Bryson Kail and Brody Knouse hit a pair of doubles for the Beavers.
Punxsutawney 12, DuBois Central Catholic 6 – Punxsy’s Scout Ryen drove in four of the Chucks’ runs.
Brookville 6, Brockway 5 – Chase Nimmo had a 3-for-3 day at the plate while Tyler Barnett drove in a pair of runs for the Raiders.
FRIDAY-SOFTBALL
DuBois Central Catholic 10, Punxsutawney 4 – The Lady Cardinals posted an eight-run fifth inning. Virginia Myers had three hits in the game and drove in three runs for DCC.
Brockway 14, Brookville 4 – Jenna Glasl went 4-for-4 at the plate and drove in a pair of runs, and her Lady Rovers’ teammates Meeca Smith and Bella Patton each drove in two runs .
St. Marys 31, Kane 6 – The Lady Dutch were the beneficiaries of 14 walks and seven Kane errors while recording 17 hits in the three-inning game.
Penn State-DuBois Baseball and Softball:
The Penn State-DuBois baseball team swept a double-header from Penn State-Fayette at Showers Field on Sunday. Penn State-DuBois won 15-0, and 6-2.
On Sunday, the Penn State-DuBois softball team lost a pair of games in West Virginia against Potomac State. The Lady Lions fell 7-0, and 13-5.
Pittsburgh Pirates:
The Pittsburgh Pirates had mixed results in two extra innings game with the Mets over the weekend. On Saturday, the Bucs lost a 4-2, 11-inning game game to New York. But yesterday, the Pirates prevailed 4-3 in a game that went 10 innings.
The Bucs are in Cincinnati to start a three-game series with the Reds. Tonight’s first pitch is scheduled for 6:40pm.
Pittsburgh Penguins:
The Pittsburgh Penguins got doubled-up by the Dallas Stars on Saturday, 6-3. The Pens have lost three of their last four games, and will be in New York tonight. The Pens-Islanders pregame show begins at 6, and the opening puck drop is scheduled for 7 this evening … on Connect FM.
