UNDATED – Just days after a trial date was finally set, the federal case against former DuBois City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio and former city employee Roberta “Bobbie” Shaffer has already been pushed back until the fall.
According to newly filed court documents, the trial, which was scheduled to begin on June 2nd has now been delayed until October 5th 2026 after prosecutors requested more time.
This delay is tied to both the complexity of the case and a major staffing change within the U.S. Attorney’s Office, with their lead attorney leaving the office.
The newly assigned prosecutor will need additional time to review the alleged 14 year conspiracy and over 21,000 computer files produced during discovery.
This motion was agreed to by both the defense and judge.
Suplizio and Shaffer are accused of stealing approximately $1.5 million dollars between 2008 and 2022.
