District 9 Baseball and Softball:

WEDNESDAY-BASEBALL

DuBois Central Catholic 2, Elk County Catholic 0 – Cardinals pitcher Carter Himes pitched six scoreless innings, gave up only four hits, and struck out 11. Both Kellan Hoover and Evan Burton went 2-for-3 at the plate for DCC.

Brockway 14, Kane 3 – Eric Decker and Caleb Daugherty each drove in four runs for the Rovers.

St. Marys 3, Brookville 2 – Joel Beimel smacked a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning to give the Dutch all the runs they needed.

The DuBois at Bellefonte and Punxsutawney at Central Mountain games were postponed.

WEDNESDAY-SOFTBALL

DuBois Central Catholic 8, Elk County Catholic 0 – DCC’s Rylee Kulbatsky pitched a one-hitter while striking out 18 ECC batters.

Brockway 15, Kane 5 – Elysabeth Myers was 3-for-3 at the plate, scored four times, and drove in three runs for the Lady Rovers.

Punxsutawney 11, Tyrone 5

Penn State-DuBois Baseball and Softball:

The Penn State-DuBois baseball team is scheduled to host Penn State-Fayette for two games Friday evening.

On Sunday, the Penn State-DuBois softball team will play a double-header on the road in West Virginia against Potomac State.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

Today is Opening Day for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Bucs will face the Mets in New York to start the 2026 season. Listen for the Pirates’ pregame show on Connect FM at 12:50 this afternoon. The first pitch comes your way at 1:15pm.

Pittsburgh Penguins:

The Pittsburgh Penguins have lost two games in-a-row, but will try to get back into the win column in Ottawa tonight. The Pens-Sens pregame show begins at 6, and the opening puck drop is scheduled for 7 this evening … on Connect FM.
