BROOKVILLE – A Brookville taxidermist is facing over 70 charges for alleged deceptive business practices.

According to police, over the past five years 53 year-old Chad Kurtz allegedly accepted money from at least 16 victims for services before allegedly ignoring them and refusing to do the work.

After multiple reports to authorities, in January 2025 police searched the business where they found a large amount of unmarked, half finished tanning projects.

Kurtz also allegedly failed to return the animal hides to all victims or compensate them.

He has now been arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail where he faces felony charges of deceitful business practices, theft by deception, receiving stolen property, and multiple other charges.
