Budget Constraints Leads to Police Changes

CLEARFIELD – Staffing changes are moving forward at the Clearfield Regional Police Department amid budget problems.

The department has dropped from 21 full-time officers to 17, with four now working part time. Lawmakers say the reductions are due to ongoing budget constraints.

This comes after the borough formally notified the Regional Police Commission of their intent to withdraw, citing lack of funds and saying the current arrangement is financially unsustainable.
